Can I Install SPC Hybrid Vinyl Plank Flooring over Carpet or Tiles?

SPC Hybrid Vinyl Plank Flooring cannot be installed over a soft or spongy surface, such as pile carpet.

A soft subfloor of carpet will prevent the planks from locking tightly. The constant flexing of the planks will occur with foot traffic, resulting in failing joins and the floor separating and lifting. The best option is to remove the carpet.

Existing tiled flooring provides a firm subfloor for the installation of click SPC Hybrid Vinyl Plank Flooring. Again, ensure that the surface is even and smooth. Some slate tiles have a rough surface and would require skimming with a levelling compound to provide a suitable installation surface.

Also, ensure the grout lines between the tiles are minimal. Larger gaps will require the application of a levelling compound.
